Double Gloucester

Territorial from Gloucestershire, EnglandIn our shop

Double Gloucester was historically made from full-cream milk and coloured with annatto, which gives it that warm orange hue. The texture is smooth and close, the flavour mellow, buttery and gently savoury. Its name probably comes from its full-cream milk, though historians still debate this. Either way, it is the cheese rolled down Cooper's Hill each spring, and it melts wonderfully.
